Hi Bryan, good luck with the shed power system upgrade.
I back feed with about 5.6 kw of panels through a 24 volt 8010 inverter. Or when charging the car through a 3kw Latronics inverter. (I have change over switches to select which inverter I want to use)
I use two 5kw GTI inverters one connected to 3.2 kw of panels, and one connected to 2.4 kw of panels.
What happens is that in the morning the panels output all they can backfeeding through the GTI inverters. The batteries are charged up fairly fast and the voltage controlled relays switch relays that I have fitted in the GTI inverters outputs to cause them to anti island.
The only time I use full power from those two banks of panels is when charging the car.
Then I have seen 5.5kw going into the car. As the power is being used the battery voltage is held down enough that both GTI inverters are working.
Sometimes one or both GTI inverters still anti island and switch off, then the battery inverter charges the car until the battery voltage falls enough too turn the relays back on.
If both GTI inverters tried to backfeed and only charge the batteries on a sunny patch of the day the Battery inverter would be overloaded.
So far that has not happened as one of the GTI inverters is set to to anti island before the other.
