My laptop has a 60W charger. If I used it 16 hours a day (which I don't), and it had the maximum draw (which it doesn't), that would be 960 watts a day. In Nova Scotia, my kWh charge is 16 cents (which with the current exchange rate is equivalent to the 12 U.S. cents kWh charge when we're in Florida). The absolute most I could economize on with a more efficient PC is .144 Euros or .12 GBP per day.

In contrast, the heat pumps I now have running appear likely to give me a net annual savings of $800CDN over burning oil.
