  Gizmo said   Thanks for posting that link Karl, good to see someone's got a F&P to work well as a motor. I was part of a solar challenge team years ago and we used a F&P as the motor at first. The mistake we made was to replace the plastic F&P hub with a aluminium hub fitted with rare earth magnets. The stronger magnets created a lot of back EMF, and we couldn't get a controller to work reliably. We ran out of time and had to go for a DC motor and chain drive.

Been thinking about this sort of thing myself but with a slightly different slant,the front free wheeling hubs could be converted to drive a couple of F&P genny's.
I'd like your thoughts on that,plus a bigger shed to do things in.
