I live in a sunny location but there are often blackouts. My fridge and TV both got screwed from the power outages. Every two weeks there has to be at least one. So I decided to invest in a PV system to use as a backup.

I did some research and here's what I came up with:

10 x Battery: CONCORDE SUN XTENDER PVX-2580L, 12V, 258AH AGM
4 x Solar panels: Astronergy ASM6610P (BF) 260 Wp > 260 Watt Poly Solar Panel
1 x Controller: SolarEpic MPPT 40A 150V PV input Tracer 4215BN
1 x Power Inverter DC to AC Power: VertaMax PURE SINE WAVE 3000 Watt (6000W Surge) 12V


The plan is to go with this setup first and expand it in few months to be independent from the grid. I would appreciate any comments on my system and maybe some other recommendations.

The usual recommendation for these power levels is to go with 24 or even 48V. Expanding the system at 12V is going against this recommendation.

Maybe consider bigger 2V cells in series/parallel. A friend has 1140AH AGM cells maybe there are bigger ones available.

I agree go 48V, if you have 8 or 12 rather than 10 of the batteries above it will get you started.

One of the first upgrades you will need is more panels but 1040 watts is a good start. Here in Australia, you can save quite a bit of money on secondhand panels.
