Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I'm installing a 17.4 kW off grid system for a remote wedding venue. They bought two pallets of second hand 435 watt panels totalling 54. They only have enough roof space for 40 panels. We purchased two 1700 (or thereabouts) AH forklift batteries for their storage. I managed to work it out with the customer such that they'll purchase an 1182 AH battery for me and I get the 14 extra panels as well!
So I get 28 kWh of storage (at 50% discharge) and 6000 watts of solar! All for a little discount on the labor. It's more than a fair trade if you ask me! I'm as excited as a pig in mud. Edited 2022-09-15 10:53 by InPhase

Sounds like a good score. Panels are getting large now, I have not seen a 435 watt panel but can imagine that you would want to put them up on a windless day. I have enough trouble with 250 watt panels where I live, as windless days are scarce. Have fun setting it all up pete

I have some 405W panels and they were a handfull to put up.
I saw a 600w at my suppliers the other day. Was over 6Ft long but still a meter wide. I doubt I'll be picking up any of those in the future. I think for 2 men would be a handfull and way over me doing them on my own.
I also have some 360;s which are a bit larger and heavier than the 250s and they are about the limit of what I want to handle. I don't know if they are going to get any bigger but I would suggest they are sailing pretty close to the viable limit of handling with the size of that monster 600.
