Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
I have a SMA SunnyBoy 4000TL-20 with the new OptiTrac option. By default it was switched off. I have switched it on to see if this makes any difference in cloud cover. Thoughts? Can't hurt anyway.

what is it supposed to do?Luck favours the well prepared
Equipped with SMA OptiTrac, the inverter reacts
much more precisely to changes in radiation levels,
so that the maximum energy available can be
constantly fed into the grid. Thus, SMA OptiTrac
significantly improves the dynamic behavior and
increases the energy yield on intermittently cloudy
days.

Now that sounds like a wonderful sales spin to me.
In short by changing the interval the system reads the input voltage and adjusts the output to suit increases power into the grid.
Whoopie, you would expect that normally, and one has to ask what is the down side of this function considering it is a user option.
Pete.Sometimes it just works

Indeed I laughed, the MPPT tracker on the cheap (but great) CMS2000 is changing the voltage every second and is supposedly 99%+ efficient at doing it the MPPT tracking that is
I would hope SMA are doing it better but 99% is tough to beatLuck favours the well prepared
