Anybody know of a good priced place to get solar panels mounting rails,brackets and so forth. in melbourne (western subs) but i can travel....

will be adding panels to a tiled roof.(or any other sugestion for mounting panels that wont break the bank)

yes, i`m handy with tools

I would think that the aluminium merchants like Capral, Chinalco etc would keep a variety of sections suitable for mounting solar panels.

Unfortunately the game has gotten tricky as technically you should meet a building standard, that aside there are really good reasons for using off the shelf, proper solar panel mounting hardware.

Mostly saves one helluva lot of time, can mount 8-9 panels on a tin roof in under an hour.
doing the same job with aluminium angle means 99% of the time the batton spacings wont match the pre-drilled holes in the panels and you'll need to drill new holes in the panels to match, no biggun but if you make a mistake, a whole row of panels ends up looking drunk and with lots of holes in the frames.

The system I have been using for a while now and can recommend from both an ease of use and cost perspective is the SUNLOCK system.

Available from apolloenergy / energy matters for about $300 / KW retail.

The difference between trade and retail is GST and handling fees so I reckon pretty reasonable.

There are other systems available but there isnt one I've found to be cheaper -without having serious compromises.

They also come with all the bits, nuts bolts, screws where other suppliers you're forced to buy these bits separatly- typically $1 a bolt/washer/nut in stainless.
