While I was walking the dog down the beach yesterday, I found this washed up on the shore.



The big battery selector switch caught my eye, so I dragged it home and pulled it apart. Its mostly copper, brass and bakelite, so survived floating in the ocean. A few steel washers and cir-clip had disintegrated though.



I washed the parts in fresh water, cleaned up the contacts with some sandpaper and put it back together with a little grease on the moving parts.



Back in one piece. Its amazing what you can resurrect from the dead.

Maybe better go back to the beach and look for more bitts off the boat or what ever the switch came from!!
