Just managed to buy a 909 3300W generator inverter and the manual suggests to use a "surge protector" with it. The manual is written in Chinglish and most people would associate a surge protector with a cheap thermal fuse, which blows when a surge occurs, which is not what is meant here, I believe. I believe the manual warns of problems from the generator, when, e.g., a TV is on and the fridge starts up, then there might be a voltage spike killing the TV?

I have a Sola Power Conditioner which contains a huge transformer and an even bigger capacitor. Have forgotten the name of such a special transformer which is used for line conditioners.

1. Would this power conditioner be suitable so my TV does not blow??

2. I suppose a test might be to look at the volt meter and watch what happens when a fridge starts up without having the TV on at the same time. Does an analogue volt meter react visibly to such a short spike?

You could just buy a power board with a surge protector in it and plug your tv into that.

Something like one of these.

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l131 3.TR5.TRC0.A0.Xsurge+protector&_nkw=surge+protector&_sacat=0 &_from=R40

You can get them almost anywhere, hardware store, supermarket, etc.
Just make sure it says "Surge Protector" and not just a overload breaker.

Pete.
Sometimes it just works
