I stumbled across this on Youtube. Its a steam powered plane, called the Besler Steam Plane. Uses a flash boiler, as expected, and a 2 cylinder steam engine, with a high and low pressure cycle. I like the way it can stop and reverse the motor to go back wards while taxing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw6NFmcnW-8 It reminds me of the 1967 Ford converted to steam by Ted Prichard, back in the 70's. I found a youtube video about that too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJq2Hc_mXFI He's still active, http://www.pritchardpower.com.au/technology/history.aspx. There are some good youtube videos about steam driven vehicles. They seam to have a lot of torque. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5AKf7IpAgs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC8R82asiWs Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now.
