Just a little bit of fun with the gas bottles and a few bikes from the tip. 
bakfietstest2 by aardvark_akubra, on Flickr It was a lot more complicated than it needed to be as I started with a frame that was totally unsuitable. I had to turn adapters to take the european crank bearings where there had been a one-piece American type crank. Then I had to modify the rear forks when I found a wheel with a three speed hub instead of the derailer type gear cluster. Steering is by drag link and is all ball bearing. It runs really easily though handling is a little strange, I even fell off it and have the facial scars to show!  Twenty or so bricks in the box is about the limit for load carrying, the missus did not like the idea of me putting a plastic lawn chair on the front!

Hi John, I showed the photo to my wife and she said you have to put two wheels in the front to be safe for you "and to carry more"  .

 Yeah its looks a bit odd, edited for sure. The shadows give it away, its been stretched from about 30% from the left, just to the right of the first two kids in front of the lady. Also noted the doors in the background share the same markings.
I think if John keeps riding his bike around the streets with that grin, Hardcourts are going to have a hard time selling that block of land!

Helmets are compulsory in NZ. We dont care if they never sell that land, until they do it belongs to the local council and they keep it mowed and we dont have to do anything but pretend it is part of our 'lawn'. |
