Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

It's taken me a couple of years to take the plunge. I have finally purchased some 18650's and a charger for my LED torches.

What pushed me over the edge was that I spotted the XTAR WP2II charger locally for $20. It is supposedly one of the better one's according to the boffins that test these things.

The batteries are 3100mAh ampmax with a built in protection circuit to prevent them discharging to quickly or flattening the battery completely and going into meltdown.

The CR123A lithium's I have been using till now are slightly skinnier. I had to wrap them in a bit of paper to bulk them out so they don't rattle in the tube and intermittently disconnect the power.

I didn't think that I had a "problem" with torches.

I had an older model Fenix PD30 that was in my pocket all the time, it went missing about a month ago and it is still really pissing me off that its gone.
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

I have had a lot of trouble getting my head around the numbers system for rechargeable batteries.

Someone said to me it is suppose to be "metric" whatever that means.

I had a plastic ruler handy so we measures an 18650, its roughly 18mm wide and 65mm long. I wondered if I should have been measuring the space between my ears instead!

How did I not pick that?
