Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Typical "ass covering" warnings, probably intended for the US, where you can end up in a court case if someone pricks their finger on a pin that you have manufactured.

A heater produces heat.
A cooked pizza will be hot.

I hope your soldering iron came with a "pick up by this end" label on the handle. :)

I like the bags of peanuts with a warning label "May contain nuts". They darn well better do! :)

I remember many years ago, like before the interweb, there was a story in the media of a lady who bought a hot coffee at a McDonalds drive through, spilt it on herself, and then sued McDonalds, successfully.

I seam to remember all this started soon after that.

I tend to think, remove all warnings and let nature sort it out. People need to learn there are consequences to not thinking before doing.
The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now.

Too true!
I've commented on this at work. We used to build some stuff that was "interesting". 11kV enclosed switch fuses. There were multiple mechanical interlocks to ensure that the handle was moved to the Open position and the earthing switch was closed before the door release handle could be turned. The interlocks were a pain to get right as sheet metalwork isn't always an exact science! I often suggested that a couple of "Danger Of Death" labels, an instruction notice and a couple of captive bolts to hold the door shut were all that was needed. Anyone who refused to follow the instructions would automatically be removed from the gene pool.

Yep. Leave off all warning signs and let Darwinian Theory take its course.

The thing is the warning labels make no difference to the people they appear to be  directed at.
If they read them at all they either ignore them or see it as a challenge.

The real target of the warning labels is the lawyers of those people.
