Why is Webmite limited to 252Mhz ?. Ran a Pico 2 successfully at 360Mhz using Picomite. Issues with flash, Pimoroni psram and WiFi modules on all can surely be dealt with by correct timing/divider settings.... |

I think it was found the Wi-Fi chip can't handle higher speeds. If it could have been solved by tweaking settings Peter would have done that. Edited 2025-05-26 18:09 by phil99 |

Yes yet my Pimironi Pico Plus 2W won't even boot at 252Mhz, reached 242Mhz, guessing the psram timings/divider are unsuitable. Needs a specific build. Footnote added 2025-05-27 03:43 by DigitalDreams Reached 238Mhz, failed at 240Mhz. |

Yes it seems that way and considering a BL-M8731BU3 RTL8731BU Dual Band 2.4G/5G external module for the Luckfox Lyra 256Mb when I get round to figuring out the builds for it (no Linux experience). If that would work on a standard Pico2 at 360Mhz and be picked up by Webmite with no modification I'd be happy. |

I recommend the ESP32. Not a fan of the Arduino IDE but pretty much whatever you can dream of is already written. Just hook-up to the PicoMite Rx/Tx. This was all I used |

The Pimironi Pico Plus 2W isn't supported by MMbasic and won't be supported. The Pico2-W is fully supported at up to 252MHz. Above this even with the PIO divide ratio changed the Webmite firmware isn't stable enough for reliable use. PIO is used to talk to the wifi module Edited 2025-05-26 20:59 by matherp |

Nah. We need support circuitry anyway for most designs. Why burden the limited resources of the Pico. This is why I use a low cost Android device as the front end....everything is there; WiFi, Bluetooth, memory, GPU, screen, capacitive touch, instant availability if the much abused user-interface dies. Save the Pico resources for lesser mundane tasks. |
