What software did you use to create the PCB? Can you post your schematic? Also gerbers in case anyone else would like to use your design?

The reason that your picture is dark is probably because the display is brightly lit. The camera tries to photograph the scene as a whole but reduces its sensitivity to prevent the light from the display from over-brightening everything so the rest of the picture looks dark. You can get round this by taking a picture without the display lit or, possibly, by using a very simple display of a few lines or characters on a black background.
