Hi everyone, Can the PICO W be set up as a Hotspot? Do I need to buy data for the pico and see it on my phone. Thanks in advance |

It will only connect to wifi (2.4GHz only) and Bluetooth. It isn't a phone system and can't work with a SIM. You can connect to it from your phone using Bluetooth if you configure it in the right way. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

You could enable Hotspot on your Mobile and let the Pico W use this as Accesspoint. Then it would be on the same network and could be accessed through TCP/IP with your phone. |

Thanks for the reply. I thought there might be a way to access the web page from pico directly with the phone, without a router. If you think there could be a solution, please help me. Thanks in advance. |

Teo I've got 2 pico3's setup and talking to each over over wifi, now if one types the ip of the pico into a phone a webpage page comes up where there are 3 options to load a picture or file. Going with the phone option once the picture is taken a 'ok' and 'retake' message comes while in the camera view then click the save file as and then click upload and the picture or file is there on the screen |

It's not a 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G device - it's on the wrong frequency and uses the wrong modes. There's no way it can work on a phone network. It works by connecting to a wifi network, which is something different. You can see a web page on the Webmite on a phone providing that a) they are both on the same wifi network or b) the phone is connected to that common wifi network via a router. Are you wanting to set it up as a captive portal? In that kind of setup, the WebMite would present as an available network connection for your phone and other devices, showing webpage with login that allows access to whatever the WebMite serves. I have made one with an ESP8266 before, that I could login with my phone and send commands through a webpage served from the ESP. I have never attempted on a WebMite though |

G'day Teo, This might depend on which software you are planning to run. As far as I'm aware at this point MMBasic on the WebMite will only work as a slave device, as DDDNS stated above, set your phone as an access point and connect the PicoMite to it, or connect through an external access point. The Python build Bryan1 is using may be able to work as access point / slave / mesh, this is out of my league  Regards, Lyle. |
