This one is my own personal ACER Aspire netbook in red.

Has embedded SDD, but also allows for addition of a standard SATA SSD, which is how I am using it - embedded SSD disabled in the BIOS.

Anyhow, Windoze 10 Home installed on the SATA SSD, and am in the process of copying everything from it, to an external USB3 SSD, so that I can then WIPE it, and install Linux.

W10 - for whatever reason - runs the CPU of this machine(older dual-core Intel Celeron N3550 @ 1.1GHz) at 100% no matter what.

Even if you are doing NOTHING, and are NOT connected to the net.
100%, all the time.
Why?!
......ask MS.

Anyway, I got sick of CONSTANT crashes due to the CPU load while trying to copy everything to the external SSD, and with transfer rates of about 10k per second....

Urggghhhhh........f this.......

Booted up an LMDE7 live USB, and the system is totally responsive.
OK, not THAT stellar, on a 1GHz dual-core with 4GB of RAM, but still WAY more responsive then W10 Home on the same machine.

W10 estimated 90 mins to copy the 4GB documents folder, LMDE7 copied everything from the NTFS Windoze10 drive, to the USB3 SSD in about 15 mins.

Done.
No complaining, no issues, no lock-ups.

FAB!

I'm now ready to wipe THIS Windoze machine and put LMDE7 on it too.

EDIT: To be fair to W10, perhaps this install has been corrupted etc, but expecting W10 to run happily on a dual-core 1GHz with 4GB is probably asking a lot. For LMDE7, this is the minimum spec sweet-spot.
