Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

G'day Guy's,

Well all this work with my club system just had to take some time off so made a car racing game and after a day of testing here it is

Basically one starts with 20K and you have to buy a car before you can race so you have to start out small and win prize money so you can afford more expensive cars

Every F1 track is there to be used and when racing it is random so one cannot know who the winner is.

Now in the garage is a mechanic who tells you all the good and bad news, also a place to sell your car, repair your car, view the car list. Also a Hot Lap so if your down on your luck you can do a timed run to win cash to get back racing.

One can choose the laps and the amount of races where a qualifying lap is done before the race starts.

The game is mouse driven and for the long listbox of the car and tracks the arrow keys on a keyboard are used.

Also included is my ticker system so one can see what's going on so if the RTCC clock is set it will show the time and if wifi is connected the IP is shown. The ticker also gives all the game updates.

Regards Bryan

There are 2 files in the zip and they must be copied to the SDCard in a games folder

What MMBasic system are you running it on. It seems to be after Font 9 and Font 10.

Thinking about this now over caffine the problem is there right out infront of me

In my club.bas system I tried out using Comic Sans Surf where font 9 and font 10 were made so it does look like 'IT' used those fonts in racing.bas.

I did tell 'IT' to make this game standalone and provide everything in the zip file so other users could enjoy the game but like everything these days that 'IT' does when 'IT' makes what I ask it works then when I try and improve 'IT' breaks it then goes down a rabbit hole until my session expires.

Now there is s bug with the arrow leaving artifacts on the screen and flickering badly when the game is run, now the game did run rock solid for me and with that arrow bug I wasted 1-1/2 sessions trying to chase it with still no result.

So after the caffine intake there are two options to take

1. Attach Font 9-10 into the zip file so users can have a Comic Sans Serf font where the fonts will need to be put in the library.

2. Strip out Font 9-10 and use the MMBasic fonts so this mismatch of missing fonts is fixed.

One thing I didn't mention in my first post when a new player is saved it is saved into a .dat file so the settings are remembered after a reboot, now currently there is only a first and second prize so when 4 or more cars are in a race a third prize needs to be made and a podium page made at the finish of the race.

One thing about the comments made in the garage they are also random so no repeated quotes and some are quite good, this morning I will add a few more so while in the garage users can have a good laugh now I do think an Ozzie mechanic can put a good twist on things.....

Hehe...
Comic Sans is (if you look around on the interweb anyway) widely regarded to be one of the worst fonts ever designed. Perhaps "IT" is aware of this and goes off to sulk. lol

Day 3 on racing.bas

Well guy's got thru 2 sessions with claude and at the last minute found it had reduced the car list to 8 cars and this is in the zip file so atleast the game can be played The full list is 20 cars with a top price of $1.3mil so one has to win a few races to afford one

Now today fixed the garage and got rid of the top menu buggy system where it took close to a session getting it to draw filing cabinets and move them higher to get out of the way for the mechanic visit.

As most will have wifi going included in the ticker is an auto weather fetch so why your playing the game may aswell get some weather updates too

Now as font9-10 is used they are included in the zip file so if members want a comic sans surf font there it is.

So first make players where a 2 colour V0.001 jacket is made and a car chosen, now once players are sorted and car bought. Select the track as Albert Park is the default track select laps then races and click start race and enjoy

Regards Bryan
