That's very good! Much better than what I'm getting on both my 15" and 17" LCD monitors. What native resolution is that LCD?

  Gadget said   just to experiment i played with the timing and managed to modify the display to have 8 bit wide characters giving effective resolution of 640 pixels across only issue is that the display didnt use full width of screen but it looked very clear.


Good work! I thought it would make a difference. 640 resolution is good, an even multiple of 1280 (17" LCD= 1280x1024).

  Gadget said   at this stage I'll leave it as is, next step is to include a TRS-80 like character set for chars 128-191 then make the last 64 characters programmable. lets see what transpires.

Hi Nick,
Just had a look at the NEC LCD and i was wrong about the screen size. It's actually a 17" 640x480 screen Model NLT-17C.
Its easier to ask forgiveness than to seek permission!

And 12 VDC input, so I'll be able to use it in a non 240 VAC situation

17" and only 640x800? Wow! That is very low res for that size.

UPDATE: I looked it up. It's not 640x480. It's 1280x1024, the correct res I expect to see for that size.

Thanks for that Nick,
When I power up the screen in flashes the resolution up on the screen, with the Maximite plugged in it comes up with 640x480.
Funny that when I used it with my PC it had crap graphics quality Go figure!
Its easier to ask forgiveness than to seek permission!
