This is real blue sky stuff - straight off the top of my (head? brain?) skull. I never did like BASIC; used mostly Intel's Control BASIC on 8052 h'ware when I had to, but cut my teeth writing 6502 code for an Apple II after I'd thrown away the ROMs. (My sympathies were always with Woz rather than Jobs.) Can handle C when I need to, especially passing vectors on the interrupt stack from my hardware when the Software Freaks need to control it. Enough of the past. WHAT IF ... there were to be a Control Perl. OK, doesn't make sense to any but a few; but, just maybe, "never was so much owed by so many to ..." Any takers? And some they will, and some they won't; but with some it's just as well. |

Well, why not using Lua if you already can handle C? Hobbit name: Togo Toadfoot of Frogmorton Elvish name: Mablung Miriel Beyound Arduino Lang |

Hmm, don't know Lua but I'll take a look. Thing is, I've got a heap of utilities I've written in Perl over the years, it's such an easy language, and I'm firmly committed to the Three Perl Virtues - Laziness, Impatience, and Hubris. Given its strong C base, it shouldn't be too hard to port, especially if Unix is now on PIC32, AND if Larry Wall could be persuaded to the cause. And some they will, and some they won't; but with some it's just as well. |
