I was asked to create a board that can be used as an "audio repeater" (I never heard of that) with 4 triggers to play some audio for a machine alarm setup. Using an mp3 module and the uMite, this was a piece of cake. One of my buddies saw this and asked if it could play two things at one time. Using two modules and mixing the stereo output worked well. So this board was developed for a Halloween application, which he actually makes a very good living at. (I know, I was surprised at how big this day is.) Using all 19 available I/O pins, the board has 4 triggers for "scare tracks" and 1 trigger for an "ambient" track. All five inputs are optocoupled to the uMite. It uses 2 mp3 modules to handle the sounds. The umite is using the TX Cfunction to talk to the modules. I use a 10k trimpot hooked up directly to an analog input to the uMite to "mix" the volume on both mp3 units, as the volume control is handled by serial commands. It has a 4 position dip switch to allow for different on site configurations, like how to handle triggers, etc. It plugs directly into one of those cheap ebay relay modules to control lights and effects based on the triggers (also optocoupled). I threw in a tsop4838 to read an nec remote control also. On board power supply has a bridge rectifier to protect against wrong power polarity. Just thought I would share another project that uMite and Geoffs efforts have made come true. Many thanks!!!! |

Very nice idea and project, Jim.
...i wish MY modules would show up... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

That is excellent and a neatly executed project. I bet that your friend is grateful. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |
