Hello,

How can I disable the console rx/tx , means free the reserved GP8 and GP9 for other use, in my case for a LCD-display, when I use the USB-version of picomite? In the non USB-Version a failure message says I should deactivate  the console to change relevant  GPs. This could be done via Teraterm - In the USB Version this way is blocked. If I do blind typing on the USB-Keyboard I don’t know if after deaktivating of the console the keyboard is still active?

Any idea?

You first have to attach a USB serial converter to gp8 and gp9. Then you can access the console and then you can change gp8 and gp9 to a different pair of GPs of your choice. It it possible to disable the serial console completely but you cannot access the PicoMite any more over serial once you have done that!

I've currently got a multi-purpose design in the works. I've reserved GP12 to GP19 for all displays. It will just depend on which firmware you use and which display module you plug into those pins. GP8 and GP9 are reserved for the console as this board can also use USB. I've found this to be the easiest way as if your final design uses some other pins you have to type blind to configure them. I decided to lay the boards out to always use the default pins but that's up to you. :)

Thanks for the answers!

Because I have a pre-soldered socket at the back of the display  I  tried the solution of „dddns“ and shifted the serial console to GP4 and GP5 (OPTION SERIAL CONSOLE GP4,GP5). Afterwards I could use GP8 and GP9 for the display. Due the USB-interface is still  working in parallel it is enough to blind type „OPTION SERIAL CONSOLE GP4,GP5“ to free GP8 and GP9, means there is no need to connect a serial to USB converter.
