Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Forum Index : Microcontroller and PC projects : first contact with picomite.. is this board could be used ..

Hello AlfaMiga,

I myself had Peter's latest version of the PicoMite HDMIUSB reference design assembled at JLCPCB.com, including the front and back panel. The matching standard enclosure from Hammond, Part number RM2015S costs a few bugs and you have a cleaner working solution - The total costs amount to 60 bugs.

However, if a VGA connection and a PS/2 keyboard are sufficient, there is a much cheaper variant: the VGAPS2 reference board, also discussed here in the forum. The total cost here is only 25 bugs. However, you will have to solder in the standard components yourself, which is not a great challenge if you have a soldering iron.

You'll fin more infos about it on Geoff's Projects.

I bought the boards from JLCPCB.com and ordered the components from Mouser.com. I had the matching housing printed out by a colleague. Now I'm waiting for the parts to be delivered so I can assemble everything - it's going to be a lot of fun.

Good luck,
Manfred

Amiga,

The simple design requires a PS2 keyboard.
Check if you have/get one before building the board. VGA is still very common, but PS2 is not.

Mixtel90 showed you a photo of a PCB previous page. I have a spare board, and even some of the components if you desire that design. PM me your address (Belgium) and I will mail the stuff. That design also requires a PS2 keyboard, but it has audio circuits on board. The board is free of charge. If you do not feel confident, I can assemble it for you (but components are not free).

P.S. If you understand that buying boards at JLC comes in multiples, the shortest path to success would be to ask one of the German (close to belgium) or Dutch, or French guys if they already have ordered the latest design from Peter, and if they have surplus boards to sell. These latest board have better audio, 4 USB ports (keyboard, mouse/controllers) and HDMI.

Great news, Amiga and a very good choice ;)

If you have any questions, you will always get an answer here in this great forum.

I recommend that you also have the front and back panels manufactured by JLCPCB.com. Here are the gerber files, created by Daniel (ak Amnesie).

And you can find the matching housing from the manufacturer Hammond if you search for the part number RM2015S.

Good luck,
Manfred

By the way: I have now finished assembling my first of 4 PicoMite VGA/PS2s
