a bit off topic, I know, but couldn't resist ... Just returned from a concert here "Christmas in Vienna". Was really impressed and it was a bit of a time travel back when christmas was so different for me as a child. It was also a musical timetravel through the centuries from Georg Friedrich Haendel to Mariah Carey. Big orchestra, Saengerknaben, solo artists, ... had my moments of creeps. The concert was recorded and will be broadcasted in many countries around the world in the next time. If you have a chance to watch it in your country, you may like it. It is so different to what we get served for christmas these times. Gerald 73 de OE1HGA, Gerald |

Gerald, In my experience, attending a concert live is always a much more intense experience than watching the recording on television. I'm glad you had a wonderful evening. Have a great Christmas season, Servus to Austria Martin Edited 2025-12-21 13:16 by Martin H. 'no comment |

Ville56 ilmeisesti Suomesta. Pysytäänpäs asiassa eikä tuoda julki omaa elämän ensimmäistä live konserttia. Juttusi sopii vauva.fi sivustolle,ei tänne. Joulujuoma ilmeisesti tehnyt tehtävänsä. |

@mace Luckily we aren't over-strict on occasional threads and posts being off-topic on here. :) As long as they aren't repetitive or spread all over. If they are kept in the same thread it makes them easy to ignore if that's what people prefer to do. I've always maintained that a little off-topic content makes a forum more "human" and leads to better interaction between members. I suspect that others will agree. No need for replies to this post. It's off-topic. :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

Here and elsewhere, off-topics have been a benefit to myself. Sometimes I have tolerated something or been doing something the hard way and up-pops a solution. Edited 2025-12-22 19:47 by PhenixRising |

I was now for a few days watching the reactions on my off-topic post and I'm deeply impressed. This forum, for me, is THE reference regarding knowledge, tolerance, manners and team-spirit. Never seen any really harsh words, critisism yes, but thats what it is for as well. I want to thank everybody that reacted and also all the mebmer that did not react and just took the post it as what it was. Gerald 73 de OE1HGA, Gerald |

I was walking through shopping a day ago and started to hear Christmas music over the standard noise. Initially I thought "oh no the shopping centre is going to blast us with more canned noise"... then as I got closer I saw it was a small wind-section group from a local orchestra playing some carol tunes. It sounded fantastic ! It was real - Lively, smooth and clear.. So I agree completely More off-topic stuff please !!! It is good for people. IMHO Unless we make our hobby more human and interactive with other interests, it may just dwindle and become more and more niche. |

Another option is - - where the notion of "off topic" doesn't exist. |
