Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I always liked XP. In fact, I'm half tempted to try setting up an old PC with it again. I think I still have enough junk around.  :)

Found on the web (not tested yet):
Look for Faux86. Download the zip, put the files on a micro SD card. Plug into a Raspberry Pi up to 3B (may not work properly on a 4 or later) and boot into a bare metal DOS 6.22. Like DOSbox but faster. Should be able to run Windows 3.1 but not XP.

When it was first released, XP was really just Windows 2000 with more playful themes, as far as I was concerned.

I suppose it was, really. The result was a less flaky version of Windows for Joe Bloggs though. :)
