I have built a couple of Ametek 38 mills that are flying fine. I get 1 amp in 20mph for 24vdc after diode loss and 500 feet line loss. I would like to find something that delivers a little more power. I dont have the time, knowledge, or wherewithall to build motors. I found a furnace blower motor that is rated as follows:

115vac
1725 rpm
6 amps
60hz

I would like to use it to charge 24 volt. So far in 12 mph winds I am not seeing much in the way of power. Is this a reasonably good motor and can I expect much out of it in better wind? My winds average 14mph. Thank you.

Sounds like a 3/4hp sqirrel cage AC induction motor. This is not very useful as an alternator without significant modification. eg mods for permanent magnets. Gordon.

Thank you. It is nice to find a board were people are actually friendly and eager to help instead of just cutting you down on an ego trip like some of the american boards.
