Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

First posting here.
In reply to Oztules(didn't want to cotaminate his post )
For those that don't know the turbine is 8x8.It started out has a 2 blader.I soon found out that at rpms over 120(~15mph winds)It would violently shake the tower(seemed like it was trying to take off)So balance was needed. The blade rotor is adopted for 4 blades now and the additional blades are built.
I only ran into one snag so far.Don't use a tape measure to measure bore diameters.I ordered a 1.5in shaft and when i tried it was too sloppy.I did learn something from that though. The wheel bore was slightly larger than the hub.So ordered a 1 5/8th shaft and stepped it to a perfect fit.
I made my own hub for the blades turned out of 2in steel shaft with steel disc and seems perfectly centered.
I'm waiting for the pillow bearings and today i'm working on the tower which will start out short and be increased to 20ft after testing.
I stripped the face of the wheel and letting mother nature sandblast it for me(suface rust).
The outer band is pretty much formed and just need to design the brackets.
The mags are itchin to go.I plan on using shafting epoxy to hold them with no potting.
Sorry about the u.s measurements.
That's about where i'm at for now.

Well done Mark,
I see the camera works now. What in the world is that ...looks like a one way clutch doing in the scheme of things.
Soon youre gonna have to throw on some magnets and some wire and see what this puppy does.
Is the Vawt ready to test it on yet?
Now we have overcome the camera barrier, the power barrier is next to conquer.

The Wheel is back on it's patio surgery table for the mag insertion and band attachment.I think i got the right stuff for glue. The hub is only one way and the bolts are just there to show where the setscrews will go.
The blades are built but will be the last to install. If you need a pic of them let me know. But you know the shape and same thing
just two more.
Has i said i'm working on the tower.
I had to put my troubleshooting goggles on for the camera and asked the first question us troubleshooters use..I asked"maybe we should try turning the camera on"My daughter said it should start by itself..Not.
Problem solved By a puter illiterate
