Hi - I'm looking to build a low wattage wind turbine in the uk for some project work.
Would this dc motor be suitable to generate enough power at low revs?
The 90ZYT-155-12-F90-D11 DC motor is rated to 0.4 Nm and 1500 RPM at 12V and 3000 RPM at 24V.

The Mounting is a standard IEC 63B14 and an 11mm keyed shaft.


Applications Include:


Golf Cart / Buggies / Go-Carts.
Electric Vehicles.
AGV's
Motorised shopping trollies.
Mobility Vehicles.
Winches
Hoists.

Hi Marcus

It looks maybe, maybe, promising!

I think it is rather small and I cant imagine it being very exciting in some of those applications they list for it! One reference says that is a 60Watt motor so dont expect high amperages from it, maybe one or two amps charging a 12 volt battery, likely less.

However, the proof if you can get your hands on it is to short the wires and see if that makes it very hard to turn with your fingers. A suitable generator is easy to turn with the wires unconnected and hard to turn with them shorted.

Thanks for the reply KiwiJohn - looks like I have missed this one on e-bay anyway.
However found this motor here at a reasonable price

I was thinking that the 38Volt amtek might be the 36/37 volt one the other guy was reviewing saying it was not suitable. Or have I read this wrong?

I cant tell if it is the same motor or not but the windstuffnow pages give some pretty definite information so I guess it all comes down to how comfortable you are with the reliability of the windstuffnow site, are you thinking of getting the motor from them?

Yes - I got a good price for the motor, the bracket for the pole, and the hub for the blades - just less than 100USD for the parts and 40USD shipping to blighty.
But, if its not suitable, I shan't be spending my hard-earned!
