Firstly you can edit your own post.

Is it geared like those from Oatley? Because it's hard to see you getting over 600rpm and therefore 6volts if it's direct.

Hi felix,

are you saying that the motor had no external load during this test.

Be careful holding by hand, as the blades can easily swing around and chop chop whatever is in the way.

yeh no load other then an ameter or test light the light was starting to glow at least I have some power this time . not sure how to read this multi meter it was more likely to have been 1.2 watts not 4 as it kept flucktuating prob .3 .4 .5 .6 ect the back thrust just about pushed me over .

Yes I wont try that again Safety is the number one priorityEdited by feix62k 2008-09-07

I think the 3 blade tapered config was better then the six blade straight just a bit noisier caught the wind instantly.

Hi feix,

your photos are too big. Crunch them to a smaller jPEG[<100k] and retry. The How To is in the FAQ on this site.

You might be clicking on the wrong image upload button. This is the correct one to use...

Let me know if that helped.

Hi feix62k [I hate you] only joking dude,But I have spent over a week making blades that don't work,
My brain is in meltdown with, root, tip. angle of attack
leading edge ,trailing,
the only thing that turns is the tail I made, maybe if I made tails instead of blades and joined them to the motor,[maybe not] I am not even waiting for a windy day ,I have been blowing wind at the blades with a compressor,
If you cant post a photo, would it be possible to tell me,
the length of the blade, its 2 foot okay. if in pvc pipe,
the radius of the root and the tip,and what size pipe you used.
I think people on this site will be getting fed up with my blade questions,I have tried a number of combinations
one blade reversed,I taped two blades together like a aeroplane prop, even tried them upside down.
I have cut about fifteen blades up to date.ain't this fun.I am still trying,
three blades at 2 foot long is what I am looking for, cheers frank

Hi Frank if you (send me your email) I will send you some pics direct, as I cant figure this site to send stuff. the blades are 2 feet long base is 3 inch wide tapering down to 1 and 3/4inch. I just bolted the flat edge to the mounting plate slightly angled the tip back about 1 inch and did the usual rounding of edges not rocket science more good luck then managment, just make sure they are all turned the same way and try to keep them all the same shape and weight (balanced). the other windmill I built has 6 blades 2 foot long just 4 inches wide no taper they work fine as well. pvc pipe just over 4 inch diameter .ok

4" dia pipe seems pretty small to make a decent blade from!

Hello, I also have been looking at those motors and I wonder if they put out enough juice to charge several 6 volt batteries wired together. Please let us know the statistics as you get them jerry
