I am a Newbie who has just installed a 3.4 KW solar awning in my back yard. I also am interested in building a VAWT.

I was in Harbor Frieght today and found a Chicago Electric 10 KW belt driven generator, designed to run a 3600 rpm.

My question is: Can I rectify the ac output to dc and use this to run to my solar inverter. Can I direct drive this to generate current. Will this generate power at low rpms, like 500?
