Evening Guys

I know these boards concentrate more on build gennys rather than utilising motors but hey I am lazy (and dont have access to a decent workshop yet)!

Ametek motors and generally considered to make excellant gennies - the old 36v ones that are now going for over £100 on ebay.

Have noticed though that dyson hoovers use a ametek motor as well and wondered if anyone had the specifications for them or had tried to use one as a genny?
My middle name is luck mind you my first is bad!

The latest DYSON vacuum cleaners have a motor that spins at close to 100,000rpm.

I've always hated Dyson hoovers with a vengeance, I think the concept is brillant but the build quality with all that plastic is crap. My wife and I owned a small care home in Cornwall until recently, and we had two of them. I seemed to spend at least one hour a week taking the bottom off the things to replace belts. When we moved to France I even threatened to throw then over the side of the ferry going across the channel !
Seriously though, try looking for a treadmill motor instead. Otherwise try asking your local electrical stores who pick up old machines when delivering new to let you know if they get a LG washing machine. I used to sell these and I believe they were first in the uk about 10 years ago so some should be scrap now. Some use a direct drive motor similar to F&P. Otherwise do what I did and get one of these guys to ship you a F&P from Aussie land.

Just read Frank133 posting (also in the UK)
see "another new motor" in this Forum (windmills)
he has pictures of scrap LG motors I am talking about.
