Has anybody tried the F&P water pump motor(the 3 phase, 2 pole one)found in the newer machines?
I spun one up yesterday with a drill and it looks promising for smaller applications
About 35v p-p off 1 phase
I didn't get much time to play as work is getting in the way again
cheers

Try one? Wasn't even aware of it.
Not surprising though as a fixed speed pump is often not pumping during the spin cycle. I suppose it could be reversed to refill using saved old wash or rinse water as an added water saving, environment friendly feature?
Can you post a pic please as newer machines have not surfaced at the recycle yard yet? was working fine... til the smoke got out.

Here it is
I quickly used some h drive bearings, it use to have some sort of brushes but I busted one pulling the magnet assembly apart
From memory the F&P machine had a low profile agitator , new white hub
I didn't get the model

Hi turnymf,
The new white rotor sounds like the 48 magnet one. Are there 3 magnet poles per magnet block?
The water pump motor has a lot of turns per pole. This may be OK for a demonstration unit. I doubt this would make many watts. There looks like a wide air gap as well.
Keep us posted on progress, if you make something with it.
Gordon.

Yes it is the new hub,( 3 magnets per block) a lucky find at the tip
The water pump had a inspection stamp on it
27/11/07, No warranty now though, hehe
I agree with you Gordon that the pump motor wont deliver much current, but it's fun to play with and was all I needed to led night light my house.
I'm about half way to setting it up on a vawt model I have here, I hope to run a couple of 12v lamps in the shed as a load. I'll send pix once it's up and working
