Hi to all in the antipodes I'm in Ireland and in the process of building a new mast or tower if you like. Its going to be 20m high with a 4.2m hugh piggott on it what I would like is to see some links or photos of masts for ideas or any advice that's relevant. I have some experience have a look at http://www.buildyourownwindturbine.com/http://www.buildyourownwindturbine.com/ Thanks and all the best Jimmy Education isn't everything; for a start it isn't an elephant. Jimmy, I am south of you and have a heavy duty hot dipped galvanised winch up/tilt over tower comprising of 2 x 7m sections. The base plate which stands 2m high is also with it along with new 8mm steel galvanised rope. You can put a big mill on this beastie if you wish. It is new, unused and if you want to save yourself some time and a whole heap of money, drop me a note if you are interested. itswhiskey .at. gmail d-o-t com I am sure you can decode that. |

Just a note regarding using the words 'mast' or 'tower'. If one needs a municipal approval to erect one, it might be wise to choose the word 'mast' on the plans for it. I know it sounds pedantic but it did make a difference when I installed an amateur radio mast. Local council members possibly imagine something quite different if it was called a 'tower' ![]() Klaus |

Jimmy, I got your email and replied. Re: your 'Gort' thing, been at it a long time now and its still fun and good brain food. Best of luck there and hope it get a few new machines flying. Tinker, thanks for the tip. Luckily in this country our gov will allow a mast or tower or support, or whatever you wish to call it, be erected for a wind turbine without submitting any paper work, once certain conditions are met. if they would give grant aid for PV it would be nice, but lets face it, all we know for certain is Christmas is coming and grant aid is not :) |
