Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

After lots stuffing around and some learning steps it's up, and have seen 20 A in to 13 volts. Axial flux, 20 magnets on each plate. 15 coils wired 3 Phase delta 1.5 ohms resistance phase to phase. coils encased in a resin and the magnets are only 8mm apart. Cuts in at 60 rpm, some chinese blades and as the addict said it's more fun than watching solar cells. New mount that allows cable to run down centre of mast rather than wrapping arond mast. And an off topic question if I may. Does anyone know what is required to weld directly from batteries?

Hi
Thats great! I'm new on this home grown power site and I have been watching in silence off and on for a couple of months. I see many things here that interest me. a lot to learn and some things to share.
About the Battery Welding, you will need (3) 12 volt batteries connected in series Good heavy wire Leads # 4
An electrode holder or clamp, a ground clamp heavy gloves
and a arc welders helmet don't settle for a cutting torch
mask. Good luck.
Oh! I've never welded this way but I am a fair welder ( a part of my job ) You control the current
by raising or lowering the welding rod, Distance to the
work
Time has proven that I am blind to the Obvious, some of the above may be True?

Tinker's link didn't work because a "space" got dropped in, probably just by accident:

Hmmm... doesn't preview properly when I try it either...

... but when it's posted, the link works. There is still a space in the text title of the link, but the HTML code works okay. Before posting, there was no space in either text or HTML. Weird...
