I am not the first to do this, but I thought it would be educational for some to see how to measure the rpm using a simple bicycle computer. Here is a link to my web diary.

idea of disc brake is good also.

Good write up imsmooth. My first anemometer was based on a bike computer.
The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now.

Excellant write-up ,IM,and yes you are definately SMOOTH ,lol.
I have the disc brake like yours ,and now, thanks to you ,I will make up that rotator to stop tangling of the pull-line.

Thanks for this and all the other items I picked up by following the "Next" prompts. Great engineering!

A mechanical disk brake like the ones on the MW monsters! Next you will be turning a variable-pitch system on your lathe!
