Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi I am building a twin rotor of the above type. I have seen an an american website I beleive a very nice stator molded from some sort of white plastic. I'm going to make myself look silly here (not for the first time) bur has anyone molded a stator with plastic? I would like to recycle a plastic table"""" AND SOME PLASTIC PIPING. I
have not done any plastic molding but at a place I workedd they fed plastic granules into a heater, this was injection moulding. I'm wondering it the container would have to be sealed to melt the plastic? Any comment gladly received; even nasty once    Arthur

The material for bonding the stator should be a cross-linked polymer, and not a thermoplastic polymer.

Arthur, plastics ain't plastics, they're not all the same. There are LOTS of types and they have all different properties. You're much better off using epoxy or polyester type resins but DO read up on them before using if you are not familiar with their properties.
I have seen an injection machine in action, its not something you could reproduce in your garage even if you did get hold of the correct plastic granules.Edited by Tinker 2009-03-17
