Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Sorry everyone, the web site was down from Friday morning to Sunday morning.

There was nothing I could do, thebackshed.com is hosted at a Webcentral, and they had problems with their Brisbane web servers.

Why it took 2 days to fix is yet to be established!

Hopefully is working OK now, though I've noticed the sites a little slower than normal. It looks like we've lost a few of the latest postings, I'll see if I can work out whats missing from the emails I get.

Regards
Glenn

Seems to me you lost quiet a few posts...
Hope the off time was not too frustrating, I sympathise with you, as I know how frustrating it is to have down time on a business website. The least I would expect from your provider is credit.

I've been looking at the forum database and it looks like we're missing any posts after 11pm 17th March Australian East time. Thats Tuesday night. I do have some of the emails posted from the forum when a new posting is made, so I might stick them all in one post as a reference.

Again sorry about this. I have to phone Webcentrals account department tomorrow, will see what they offer in the way of compensation, though I dont think it will be enough to keep me as a customer.

I've found 59 emails for postings from Tuesday night to Friday morning when the servers went down. I didn't realise the forums was so busy

I'll get these messages back onto the forum over the next few days, its a manual job but important in my view, as a developer I hate loosing data.

I've also downloaded to my PC the forum database and everyone's uploaded pictures, though any pictures posted between Tuesday night and Friday morning are lost I'm afraid. Now that I know Webcentral are not a reliable service, I'll download the database more often until I find another solution. Its a big file, about 25M.

I've heard there are still problems, some sites have gone down again, and some sites are slow. Still no official explaination from Webcentral.

I'm looking into other hosting options. I would host the site at home but I cant get a ADSL connection.
Quadra Hosting look pretty good so far, http://www.quadrahosting.com.au/. There are cheaper options oversea's but I want to keep it hosted in Australia. The site pushes a lot of data, 25 to 30gig per month outbound, and most small local ISP's dont want to host a site with such a bandwidth.
