Have been testing different setups and have just noticed that some rotors perform quite differently on a bench test using the same wired stator? So now am checking for best performers. Does anyone know what is happening here? From a manufacturing point of view, its quite possible. Depending on who makes the F&P Smartdrive magnets, there may be batches with more or less magnetism than the norm. As a motor, this isn't really a problem, the controller will adjust the input power as needed to achieve the RPM required. Its designed to do that, adjust to different wash loads. But as a alternator, as you have found, it can make a difference to the power we can get out. Its possible two identical motors used as alternators could have a difference in power output by a few %. Interesting. Anyone got a gaus meter? Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Harold, by brown I think you mean the pale sort of brown translucent rotors and that is what we used today. It showed 18amps while a grey one showed 10amps in similar situation. Glenn thats very interesting and methinks a gaus meter measures magnetism? Is that like degaussing your TV. ![]() More things to think about when putting these things together. Hi Peter I came across the folowing rotor colours: light creme the first single magnet rotors: ~10% less creme speckled common grey light grey translucent creme speckled brown - best output: about 1amp more then grey I did some test old single mags, creme against grey and the brown one. Harald |

The speckled brown type is more rigid as well. Better all round, but not very common. Gordon. become more energy aware |
