Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Assuming that you had a load of standardised parts on hand (or could order them) and that labour wasn't an issue, what's the downside of going with the multiple-seperate-turbines-on-one-pole approach? The only ones I can think of are:

- turbulence from the rotors interfering with each other. I'm not sure how big a problem this is.

- excessive noise compared to one big turbine from having a greater length of blades to sweep the same area. Could be alleviated with low tip speeds and good blade design.

- (possibly) vibrations. I guess you don't want the whole assembly to Tacoma Narrows itself to bits. Again, I'm not sure how much of an issue it'd be.

The big upsides would be cost and lower weight relative to one biggun, and needing less in the way of total materials, lighter tower etc...

Any thoughts?
