Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Jaycar (Australian electronics store ) have a new Weather Station with PC interface model and are selling the old model $70 off the regular price.

Cat Number XC-0330 is a wireless weather station, range of 60m ( this could be extended for sure ), measures wind speed, direction, temp, pressure, humidity, rainfall. And it has a PC interface and software to allow you to store records on your computer.

For $129 its good value, I ordered one today. Stock is low, mine had to come from another store. The new model is the XC-0348, about $200.

With any luck it will arive by the weekend, I'll mount the wind speed and direction sensor on my windmill mast about 1 meter below the blades.

Glenn, good luck with the wind speed part. My mate got a wireless weather station for Christmas before last. All is still working except the wind speed which started making horrible bearing noises after about a year. It got so bad he had to gaffa tape the thing up.

I guess one cannot expect long life from a cheap gadget and presumably cheap bearings, just look at how much the anemometers on top of yacht masts cost.

I have one like this model if it is a thermor but it is not a touch screen , the big draw back is the wind speed and direction update every 120sec and they are a nightmare to sync in the transmitter to the base station , I have been watching ebay and they sell a La Crosse WS-1510-iT , these units are real time and are not to badly priced @ $199.00 RRP and probably go for a fair bit less at auction..

I have not fully checked out the full details on this one but for a person of your ability Glenn I am sure you will make it work well...
