So people are annoyed by spinning wings, blinks, whatever.
And props, gens, furling etc have a rough life.
So how about using the tower for a large cone only, making pressurised air, and with a hose leading to the ground, where your wt are placed in a stone building or something.

The cone would have spring loaded "doors", where too heavy winds/ high pressure might escape.

Once on the ground, the pressurised air would go into a reasonably airtight house, and through the windturbine(s) to escape to outside.

Is this too crazy? Problems?
cheers, J

Yeah its crazy

But it proves your thinking out side of the box!!!!

Facing a cone into the wind wont actually compress the air much, if the pressure inside the cone is too high, the wind will simply go around the cone. There is some small gain in a air "scoop" or inlet trumpet, but its only tiny. Thats why jet engine inlets are only slightly larger than the compressor wheel.

You could still duct the air stream to a remote turbine, but the losses would be big, air gives up energy when its forced to change direction ( thats how we get power from the wind, the turbine forces the wind to change direction ), and you would still need to face the duct into the wind.

So how about not rising the pressure, but the wind speed instead. If one could rise windspeed by 50% the power would be doubled?,
