Hi guy have been a member for a will now. A mate and my self are interested in renewable power, so we have built this windmill following gizmo design. At this time we only have it hooked to a couple of lights as a load, hope to charge up some batteres later on with it.



so tell me what you guy think of it

It looks good! It spins me out when I see a windmill design of mine has been put together by someone else.

How much wind do you get there? The blades are a fair way out from the center, so your windmill will work better in low wind conditions. If you get a lot of wind, try moving the blades futher in, that will increase the RPM and give more power.

Also, how many rivets did you use to hold the PVC blades to the tubes? I've had a report of a PVC blade coming off the tube in a very strong wind, but they only used 4 tiny 3mm rivets in total per blade, not enough in my view. I use 6 5mm rivets per blade.

We will need to add some more rivets to the mill then as have only use 3 4mm rivets

We get good wind in winter not so much in spring and summer.
The mill is mounted on a trailer so we can move it to other locations on the property.

It's been interesting putting this together to see how much power you can get out of the wind. Hope to build a vawt and see how that goes.
