Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have one of these in the shed that I often consider taking apart.

These old lawnmowers have a large internal ring gear in each wheel meshed with a small pinion. Strikes me this could be interesting for those who are trying to experiment with high RPM generators.

The gears might be quite noisy and I dont know how long they might last but there are two sets in every lawnmower and the price is usually very attractive, except in 'antique' circles!

I dunno, would be a shame t0 put that old thing apart. But I'm sentimental like that. If you lived next door I would offer $20 for it

YOu have a point there Glenn, I suppose I should do it now before it gets really old and I start to feel soft for it too!

Hopefuly someone who might like to try the idea can find enough of the remains of one to use in their experiments.
