Does anyone know if this unit has another more popular name, as there are no hits on Google. I have had suggestions it was either used in the original F&P "Gentle Annie" or maybe a Simpson washer.

It has three large magnets on the armature and 10 wires plus a ground wire. Strong cogging and 24 wire slots.

I'll take a picture if no immediate replies.

 Thank you,

Yes, I have a couple of them ,,one I took apart .

I also think they came out of the F&P dryers ,as they have a ribbed drive belt.

I set mine up years ago ,but can't remember the results. Must have been dismal as I canned the project. Think I tried all sorts of wiring . Lots of cogging .

Yes, the ribbed drive pulley does suggest something other than a washing machine.

Seems odd to use an electronically commutated motor in a dryer, but then again the dryer we have is about 25 years old and only has one speed . . . slow!

Not worried about cogging as this unit could be for a microhydro system to complement a wind plant.

Looks like I will have to connect it to a lathe and do some Volts/Current/Power/Load runs on it.

 Thanks,

      Hi dave
I have used these for hydro units They are out gentle annies two three phase windings one low voltage brown , brown/black. purple others are three sepatate windings.
need higher revs ie 1200rpm to charge 24v limit about 6A but overheat before this. can re wind i have one here making 30A but running 3000rpm . Mostly nowdays I use smart drives but if eff comes in these are the answer I have one on each of my pipelines to take over when in a drought ie even at 3000rpm no load loses 10 Watts smart drives 1200 rpm lose least 60 in bearings alone.readily available in junk yards windings normally alloy .
Can say lot more but no time now

      Herb,
Thanks for the added info. 24V at 6Amps, if at 50% efficiency, is roughly what I expect to get. Efficiency is what I am after as 150W is probably a bit light for a F&P.

When you have the time I would appreciate your comments on rewinding, etc.

 Cheers,

      Hi Dave
Better transfer this to other stuff.
These are 8 pole machines .
not easy to dismantle but the disc grinder solves that.
Give me your head , flow, pipe line ,battery voltage ,expected wheel dia or can we change this ?
etc and I will sort out details I do a fair bit of work in hydro design as well as my own .
