Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi DVT004,
I am no teacher, but the voltage you are measuring has no current component. The number of turns and the rpm, and the magnet strength and some other factors like air gaps etc determine the voltage. This will not essentially change, however, with a reduced wire length, with physically smaller, more tightly wound coils, the resistance will be lower. This means that more current can be delivered for the same amount of heating in the windings. This will result in a more efficient alternator, with more power getting to the loading.
