I'm following a (pirated) thread about downwind furling and am very interested. I'm also one of those "instant gratification" personalities. All that being said, it occurs to me that Dinges is in Holland, Niall in Ireland, I'm in the US and pretty much the rest of the conversation's crew is in Australia. We're all in a different time zone. Heck, for some of you guys, it's already tomorrow! I'm thinking it would be way cool to have something like a LAN (Local Area Network) party, where everyone is awake and on the forum all at once maybe one day a month or something like that, so we can bounce ideas off each other and not have to thread-search or try to remember who said what. I think it could be very productive. Of course, the best-case scenario would be for everyone to rally around me, so I could be enjoying Saturday breakfast while everyone else is propping toothpicks under their eyelids to stay awake! Just a thought! Nothing difficult is ever easy! Perhaps better stated in the words of Morgan Freeman, "Where there is no struggle, there is no progress!" Copeville, Texas |

Hi Macgyver Some of the forum members use a IRC chat to keep in contact. Bryan or Oztules would be the guys to talk to. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Best way to run a chat Forum to my knowledge would be to use Paltalk. My wife & I have had over 10 years experience running these type of rooms. Paltalk has text, mic & webcam functionality & a few other handy features like Private chat & file transfer. It is free for basic use. Chatrooms can be open to the public or locked requiring a password. There are many possibilities to make it work well. If this idea appeals I would be happy to help set it up. We have friends on Paltalk from Australia, USA, NZ, Britain & Europe & the timezone issue is not much of a problem - there is enough overlap for everyone to stay in contact. If this is of interest to anyone let me know, I can reopen our old room for a demo. I agree it would be nice to have the option for some realtime discussion. This worked well on a Vintage Mustang Owners site I used to frequent. They had a comprehensive site on Mustangs with forums similar to this site & the chatroom added an extra dimension to it.
