Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

The FAWT Silo is one of my ideas to improve the efficiency of VAWT.
From reading arround the Net I know that the best VAWT can only be 45% vs The HAWT in efficiency.
well The FAWT is a VAWT but it uses lift like the HAWT to create the rotation spin.
the idea is simple, I took the wind from a horizontal direction to a downward direction, and yes I was successfull, there is a lot more modifications to be done but few bucks at a time I can only spend my allowance, no investors yet....
i have all the uptodate pics on my site vawt.tk
please enjoy the videos and the picture galleries.
best regards

Wow, I really like this.. From the first video, I couldn't see where it was going, but when I saw that thing spin at the end, it made me watch all the videos.
Where on your site can I find more information about the deflector construction and angles?

I don't like the plywood part too much, but I like the results you show.. I have a bunch of tensile structure fabric left over which is rated for ice/wind load for 20 years.. It's stronger than trampoline material and air/water tight.. it's like 30mm cross woven pvc coated polyester.. Im pondering the ideas of building a pipe frame with that material as the deflector surface..
Keep me updated. I like the ideas you share
EDIT: Here's a pic of the fabric I'm talking about over my patio..

not bad.. not bad. a pipe structure could do the job, i did try it with out the half pvc and the wind did not channels down properly, that could be an issue with the fabric build!!??, but i always say "I must try it first" so anything is possible.
i will keep you updated for any modifications...
