Yeah I agree. It would work, but dont know how well. One problem would be getting the kites back up after no wind. The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

http://www.skywindpower.com/ww/index.htm This bloke's onto something though. A tethered gyrocopter-come-windmill. The power in the jet stream is staggering. 8 km of conducting tether would weigh too much and be a great lightning rod, as they say. So why not pipe hydrogen up to the gyro through a light-weight polymer tether, do the old Haber process up there and pipe ammonia to the ground. Ammonia burns well, forming steam, nitrogen and lots of heat to directly run a gas turbine. |
