Well its, as we say here in Australia, pissing down. There is a big "rain event" over the Queensland tropics, raining since Monday night and very heavy over the last 24 hours. On the radio they are talking about road closures and rain guage readings. For the last 24 hours, on average the readings are over 250mm ( 10 inches ), with a few over 300 ( 12 inches ) amd one report of 450mm ( 18 inches ). Most of the bridges and low roads are flooded.
My place is holding together, but the drains a flowing fast. There is a man made creek that runs along the hill behind my place to keep most of the water off my house pad, and I can hear it before I see it, I have rapids in my back yard
The ground is getting very spongy, walking around you sink a couple of inches with every step. The winds are picking up and I was a little worried about the southern cross windmill and its free standing tower falling over, so I furled it for safety.

This rain is expected to remain until Sunday, so I'm a little worried. Cant get to work, roads over, bummer

Not a drop down here at Mt.Tamborine ,Glenn. Dry as an Arab's sandshoe.

But we've got those cyclonic eerie winds-sort of strong and dry ,gusty winds.

Not being able to get to work is a bummer,I'll bet ?
Tuck that southern cross windmill up nice and tight.

Don't get "footrot"

Farming and ranching I love to see it rain but after you get over 150 mm/6 inches at one spell it starts to get a little spooky. Sounds like a good time to work in the shop or do some computer work. Just keep an eye and an ear out for the creek level raising.

Well we have had to date, since the 19 January, 912 mm and it is still raining. That's just over 2 weeks.

Bruce 912 mm / 25.4 = 35.9 inches
      .9 inch x 25.4 = 22.86 mm which is half way
      between 7/8 & 15/16 inch.

Bruce - clear as mud????????
Plenty of mud here. Even milk the cows in the mud. The chook pen is mud. Marcy permanently (until the rain stops) let the chooks out, & very quickly took up residence in my shed!!!!
