Thats a good set of plans, very pratical. If only there was a cheap and easy way to convert heat directly into electricity. Has anyone ever played around with those peltier effect units to generate power?

Cooled triple junction solar cells are pushing 40% efficiency at 500 sun concentrations. They cost a mere $100000 / m2.

If insolation is 200Watts/m2 (averaged over 24 hours), a 500m2 mirror focussed on this solar cell might generate 30kW/m2, or 260000 kW/hours/year. At $0.1/KW/h, this would sell for $26000. Add to the cost of the cells, you've got the cost of the mirrors, electronics, distribution, upkeep etc. I reckon by the time it's paid off, you're ready to replace it.

This is just a quick question maybe for gizmo.

Why can you not directly click on the links on some or any of the pages.

Not trying to be critical of the back shed or its managment

Best regards to all.

It's because they're not posted as links, I reckon. Just copy and paste.

Hey whirleygird, I did mean to asnwer your question, but completely forgot about it. Thanks to Megawatt Man for posting a message, kind of reminded me.

Yes, if someone just pastes the link, they dont work as a hyperlink when everyone views the posting. But see the buttons above the box where you post a message, the 4th from the left is the Add Hyperlink button ( if you hold your mouse above the buttons for a second it will tell you what it does ). If you click on that when posting a message, it will ask for the text, and then the actual link. So you could use "here" for the text and the web site address for the link. I just paste the link address into both area's.

Sometimes I will edit a posting to change the pasted links to hyperlinks, but thats kind of rude of me so I usually leave them alone.
